Biographical/Historical:     Sara D. Alberson was a home economist and sportswoman whose goal was to promote Florida throughout her varied career.  She worked for the active participation of women and young people in outdoor sports and advocated the conservation of Florida's natural resources. Holding many posts in her career, she served as executive secretary of the Eustis Chamber of Commerce, associate editor of "Florida Sportsman" and "Florida Wildlife."  She authored "Florida, Your Land and Mine," "Predatory Animals and Birds of Florida," and the "Blue Sea Cookbook," which was named best cookbook of 1968 by Evelyn Oppenheimer.  In 1957, she was hired as Florida's home economist and was in charge of promoting the state's seafood.  She moved on to work in this capacity for the Florida Gas Company in 1965.
Summary:     The collection contains the scrapbooks of Sara D. Alberson.  In them are pasted her magazine and newspaper articles and columns touching mostly on cooking (especially seafood), outdoor recreation and sports, old Florida, and some society news.  Also, there are photographs, recipes, and correspondence.  Most of the latter regards her "Blue Sea Cookbook."
