Biographical/Historical:     The Byrd family was a prominent Tallahassee family.  Thomas Blake Byrd married Rubie Bernard in 1884.  She was the daughter of Judge Jesse Talbot Bernard and Mary Bradford of Alachua County, Florida.  The family operated a successful grocery store in Tallahassee from the late 1800's through the mid-1900's.
Summary:     This collection contains the family papers and photographs of the Thomas B. Byrd family of Tallahassee from 1850 to 1970.  The papers include both business and personal correspondence, receipts, store ledgers, school records, and documents concerning land sales.
    The photographs document the Byrd family, as well as other Tallahassee people, Civil War people, and miscellaneous Florida views.  The allied families represented in the images include the Bernard, Gwynn, Blackburn, Groover, Mullino, Meredith, Margath, Puleston, Searing, Trader, Bradford, Littleton, Murray, Powell, and Gregory families.
