GIVING CREDIT TO LSTA Public acknowledgement of the funding provided through the LSTA is required for the activities it supports. Any publications, brochures, videos, etc. created under an LSTA project must include the acknowledgment that LSTA funds were used. On permanent products, the acknowledgment should be placed in a prominent location. The following wording may be used to fulfill this requirement: "This publication has been funded [in part or whole] under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services." or "The contents of this [insert type of publication; e.g., book, report, film] were developed under a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, through the Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services. However, the contents do not necessarily represent the policy of the Department of State and you should not assume endorsement by the State or Federal Government." Be sure to spell out the acronym LSTA. It should appear as "Library Services and Technology Act" on all publications. Do not use inaccurate statements such as "a federally funded project." Grant recipients are allowed to copyright work developed under a grant. However, both State and Federal governments reserve a royalty-free, nonexclusive and irrevocable license throughout the world for official purposes to publish, translate, reproduce, and use all subject data or copyrightable material based on such data covered by the copyright. |
